NOW Double Strength Taurine offers 1,000 milligrams of Taurine in one serving! Taurine has been found to be important in maintaining the body's natural electrolyte balance. It is a conditionally essential amino acid which is not utilized in protein synthesis, but is mainly found free in most tissues, especially throughout the nervous system. It functions in tissues by stabilizing cell membranes, aiding the transport of potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium in and out of cells. Taurine helps to generate and regulate nerve impulses and aids in the maintenance of fluid balance already within normal levels. It also is used by the body for visual pathways. Not manufactured with wheat, gluten, soy, milk, egg, fish, shellfish or tree nut ingredients.
